2021 Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award – Professor Michael P. Païdoussis
The Executive Committee of the ASME Applied Mechanics Division is pleased to announce and congratulate Professor Michael P. Païdoussis, Thomas Workman Emeritus Professor in Mechanical Engineering, McGill University, as the recipient of the 2021 Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award. This award, which includes a medal, a plaque, and an honorarium, will be presented at the Applied Mechanics Division Awards Ceremony, during the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition, to be held virtually, on November 1-5, 2021.
The Thomas K. Caughey Dynamics Award, was established in 2008, and operated as a division award until 2020 when it was elevated to a Society award. This award is conferred in recognition of an individual who has made significant contributions to the field of nonlinear dynamics through practice, research, teaching, and/or outstanding leadership.
Professor Païdoussis is receiving this recognition for more than half a century of outstanding contributions in nonlinear Dynamics of systems with fluid-structure interactions.
