2021 Journal of Applied Mechanics Award - Yuhang Hu, Kathryn Matlack, Ruike Zhao

The AMD-ASME Executive Committee is pleased to announce and congratulate

Dr. Yuhang Hu, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology;

Dr. Kathryn Matlack, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Science and Engineering, University of Illinois; and

Dr. Ruike Zhao, Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Ohio State University

as the 2021 recipients of the Journal of Applied Mechanics Award. This award includes a certificate and an honorarium.

The Journal of Applied Mechanics Award is provided by the Applied Mechanics Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers to honor the best paper which has been published in the Journal of Applied Mechanics during the two calendar years immediately preceding the year of the award.

Prof. Hu is being recognized for her paper “Kinetics of Polyelectrolyte Gels”, Journal of Applied Mechanics 87, 061010 (2020);

Prof. Matlack is being recognized for her paper “Experimental Testing of Vibration Mitigation in 3D-Printed Architected Metastructures”, Journal of Applied Mechanics 86, 111008 (2019);

Prof. Zhao is being recognized for her paper “Micromechanics Study on Actuation Efficiency of Hard-Magnetic Soft Active Materials”, Journal of Applied Mechanics 87, 091008 (2020).
