Special Issue: Mechanics of Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion

in ASME Journal of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage (JEECS) and ASME Applied Mechanics Review (AMR)

Advances in electrochemical energy storage and conversion play a critical role in developments required to meet the rising energy demand of the world in a sustainable way. The emerging field of electro-chemo-mechanics, the interplay of mechanics and electrochemistry, is crucial for understanding the coupled physicochemical processes in a wide range of energy technologies, including rechargeable batteries, capacitors, photoelectrochemical cells, electrolyzers, and fuel cells. Electrochemical phenomena influence the mechanical response, for example by inducing deformation and regulating fracture initiation/propagation. Conversely, mechanical phenomena influence electrochemical properties such as device reliability, efficiency, and durability.

Special issues of JEECS (open submission) and AMR (by invitation only) aim to collect original research articles, technology reviews, and comprehensive scientific reviews concerned with recent advances in electro-chemomechanics and its future directions. Topics of interest include theoretical, experimental, and/or computational studies of relevant phenomena across all scales occurring in electrochemical energy storage and conversion.

JEECS Special Issue Tentative Publication Schedule:

Open to submissions: November 15, 2020

 Submission deadline: February 15, 2021

 1st reviews completed: March 15, 2021

  Publication date: November 2021

Standard Submission Instructions:

ASME Journal of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage (JEECS): Open submission of research papers, perspectives, and review papers are welcome. Papers should be submitted electronically at journaltool.asme.org. On the Paper Submittal page, select the Journal of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage, and then select the Special Issue Mechanics of Electrochemical Energy Storage and Conversion. Papers received after the submission deadline or papers not selected for inclusion in the Special Issue may be accepted for publication in a regular issue.

ASME Applied Mechanics Review (AMR): Only invited papers will be published in the special issue. Unsolicited review papers may be considered for publication in a regular issue.
