1 Postdoctoral Positions in Computational Cell Mechanics @ University of British Columbia, Vancouver - Canada

mattia.bacca's picture

1 postdoctoral position is open for a multidisciplinary project related to the mechanics of the cytoskeleton and the adhesion of cells on collagen substrates. The position is in co-supervision with Prof. Mattia Bacca and Prof. Gwynn Elfring in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at UBC, Vancouver – Canada. It is carried on in collaboration with the BC Cancer Research Center and the Biomedical Research Center at UBC.

The project involves theoretical modeling and numerical simulation of the active deformation of the cytoskeleton, focal adhesion activation and cell locomotion of biological cells on collagen substrates. The methodology involves continuum mechanics and statistical mechanics. The theoretical analysis will serve to validate predictions against experiments done by local and international collaborators.

We are seeking for individuals with strong analytical and computational skills in theoretical continuum mechanics and continuum physics.

The positions will be filled as soon as is reasonably possible given the current situation

(Summer/early Fall?).

Interested candidates should send an email to Prof. Bacca (mbacca@mech.ubc.ca) putting Prof. Elfring (gelfring@mech.ubc.ca) in CC of the email; Indicate “iMechanica postdoc position” in the object of the email; Attach a detailed CV in .pdf, and indicate 3 academic references (either in the CV or in the body of the email).
