Headquartered in Atlanta, GA, Novelis operates in 10 countries, has approximately 11,000 employees and reported revenue of approximately $10 billion for its 2017 fiscal year.DescriptionRole Overview:The Metallurgy & Modeling Co-Op participate in a project to explore the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods to alloy discovery and design through a proof of concept evaluation performed in partnership with an external partner. A critical and non-trivial first step in the project is to build a suitable data set in an appropriate structure from our internal databases for machine learning. The Co-Op will perform this first step and will be trained in advanced data analytic tools for analyzing the collected data. The Co-Op is expected to build a suitable data set in an appropriate format and apply AI tools to perform an initial end to end analysis of our internal data. Duration: May - December 2018 Key Learnings:

  • Gather and prepare relevant data for machine learning
  • Training in the usage of AI tools as applied to a current industry problem
  • Data science

 Qualifications:

  • Graduate program in Mathematics, Statistics, or Materials Science/Engineering with a background in scientific computing, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related program
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite – Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Experience with AI preferred

 Facilities, Amenities or Infrastructure:The Novelis Global Research & Technology Center (NGRTC) is located in Kennesaw, Georgia, and serves as the global hub for Novelis’ extensive research and development activities.
