VAL2015 conference on Variable Amplitude Loading - Abstract submission system opened
Dear iMechanician
We are preparing everything necessary to host the 3rd International Conference on Material and Component Performance under Variable Amplitude Loading (VAL 2015) in Prague, Czech Republic in March 23-26, 2015. From now on, you can register your abstracts in the online
submission system. The system will stay open till July 7, 2014, so do not forget to insert your abstract in time.
I wanted to highlight moreover a questionnaire, which we published on the conference website - see http://val-conf.org/minisymposia-inquiry.htm. It relates to our effort to support also less formal discussions through organizing the minisymposia. We hope they could be the right place to discuss various issues, uncertainties, etc. Anyhow, we need to know that there is a real interest in the individual topics, and that there are also researchers able to chair them. I'll refer here to one impotant item among the rules: "The chairman post is very important – as such, if more than 10 participants will register, he/she will be exempted from paying the participation fee for VAL 2015 conference."
Because we really need this feedback from potential participants, we decided to run the questionnaire as a contest. Those who fill the inquiry will get to the lottery, where 3 books of Prof. Jaap Schijve (Fatigue of Structures and Materials, Springer 2009) will be drawn as the main prize. The questionnaire will be closed also on July 7, 2014.

Jan Papuga & Milan Růžička

VAL 2015 conference invites to submit late full papers
Dear iMechanicians,
The conference organizers of the 3rd International Conference on Material and Component Performance under Variable Amplitude Loading (VAL 2015, Prague, Czech Republic, March 23-26, 2015, www.val-conf.org) are successfully finishing the first phase of publishing the submitted and revised papers in Procedia Engineering series. Because some papers have not been finalized in time, we decided to open the option to publish them (while fully reviewed) in separate conference proceedings. Because of the realized review process, also these papers will be candidate for special issues of extended conference papers, which were negotiated with Elsevier for International Journal of Fatigue and Engineering Fracture Mechanics.
In this moment, we offer the possibility to register additional full papers, if you are interested to come to Prague and present there your topic of interest. Note that your response in that case should be very quick, because the paper has to be uploaded to the website until January 15, 2015 and fully revised till February 15, 2015. If fully reviewed and revised, these papers will be included into the selection for the special issues of the aforementioned renowned journals.
Do not hesitate to ask any relevant questions at the secretariat of the conference (abstracts@val-conf.org).
Best regards,
Jan Papuga & Milan Růžička
