The Institute of Structural Analysis at Leibniz Universität Hannover invites applications for a

Scientific coworker / PhD Candidate (Salary scale E13 TV-L)

The position is available from 1 December 2013.  The work should lead to a PhD thesis.

Tasks:
Your tasks include contributions to teaching and research. The research theme involves the development, implementation, and application of material models for modern composite materials and their joints. In particular, the failure behavior for the clinching of short fiber reinforced thermoplastics with aluminum plates will be investigated. The research will be carried out within the framework of a project funded by the German Research Foundation DFG and is carried out in close collaboration with the Institute of Metal Forming and Metal Forming Machines. The work will be done within a working group of the ISD dealing this subject theme and related themes. Composite materials are increasingly important in the areas of wind energy, aerospace, automobile, and civil engineering. The ISD pursues the involvement in national and international projects.

Requirements:
Applicants should have a diploma or masters degree in engineering or applied mathematics. A strong background in mechanics and numerical simulation is necessary.
