Dear Colleagues, Co-Workers and Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that the 23rd International Workshop on Computational Mechanics of Materials (IWCMM23) will take place in Singapore, Oct 2-5, 2013.

IWCMM23 is a gathering of great minds in computational mechanics of materials from all over the world.  This conference was initiated by Professor Siegfried Schmauder, Professor of Strength of Materials and Materials Science, University of Stuttgart, in 1991.  Since then, twenty-two conferences have been organized all over the world.  Each year, this conference attracted prominent scientists that gave Plenary Talks, Keynote Lectures and Invited Presentations.  The 23rd edition promises to be as exciting, if not more, as we have the following confirmed speakers:

Plenary Speakers:

Zhigang Suo (Allen E. and Marilyn M. Puckett Professor of Mechanics and Materials, Harvard University)

Marc G. D. Geers (Eindhoven University of Technology)

Wing Kam Liu (Walter P. Murphy Professor, Northwestern University)

Martin Dunn (Associate Provost, Research, Singapore University of Technology and Design)

K. T. Ramesh (Alonzo G. Decker Jr. Professor of Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University)

Keynote Speakers:

Surya Kalidindi (Georgia Tech)

Ghatu Subhash (University of Florida)

Joerg Behler (Ruhr-Universitat Bochum)

Vincenzo Barone (Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa, Italy)

K. S. Kim (Brown University)

The conference website is now open for abstract submission (http://www.iwcmm23.org/abstract-submission.html).  We are pleased to announce that the abstract submission deadline is extended to May 31, 2013.  You are welcome to submit up to two abstracts.  Poster submissions are equally welcome.  We also plan to publish a special issue on the Journal of Computational Materials Science (Elsevier), where accepted papers of IWCMM23 will be considered for inclusion into this special issue.

We look forward to see you in Singapore!

With Best Wishes,

Adrian Koh (on behalf of the organizing committee for IWCMM23)
