The candidate will work on the study of failure mechanisms of lithium ion batteries which are related to lithium ion diffusion, heat generation and transfer, chemical reaction, and stress development inside the battery.

The candidate will work on a project on developing and applying multiscale simulation approach to modeling the material processes occurring in Li-ion rechargeable batteries. This project involves close collaborations with the experimentalist scientists.
