One NSF-funded Ph.D.

Applications are invited for a doctoral research position immediately available (also open to Summer 2022, Fall 2022, or Spring 2023) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science Graduate Program at the University of Vermont. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof.

One fully-funded Ph.D. position is now available immediately in the area of computational nanomaterials in the group of Dr. Jihong Ma (https://sites.google.com/umn.edu/jihong-ma-group/home?authuser=0) at the University of Vermont.

A postdoc position is available in the area of computational polymeric nanomaterials in Dr. Jihong Ma's group (https://sites.google.com/umn.edu/jihong-ma-group/home) at the University of Vermont starting September or October 2020. This project will involve close collaboration with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).

Multiple PhD positions are now available in the department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Vermont starting Fall 2020. Successful candidates will be under the supervision of Dr. Jihong Ma. Dr. Ma’s research focuses on understanding the physical properties of materials with complex structures at multiple scales (from nano- to macroscale) via a combination of theoretical analysis, numerical simulations and experimental characterizations. The goal is to uncover or enhance material performance characteristics for industrial, medical, and aerospace applications.
