Cover of Materials 09 (11)

Submitted by shavijabranko on

Dear all,

An image from our paper on micromechanical testing and modelling of heterogeneous materials (hydrated cement paste) has been selected by the editors to be on the cover of the special issue of the Materials journal dedicated to discrete modelling of concrete.

The cover page can be seen here: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/315897827_Cover_of_Materials_0…

Self-Sealing Cementitious Materials by Using Water-Swelling Rubber Particles

Submitted by shavijabranko on

Dear all,

Our group has recently published a paper on self-sealing of cementitious materials by using water-swelling rubber particles as admixtures. This is the first time that such an approach was developed to increase the water-tightness of cracks and therefore enhance the concrete durability.

The paper can be found at: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/319208857_Self-Sealing_Cementi…

Microscale Testing and Modelling of Cement Paste as Basis for Multi-Scale Modelling

Submitted by shavijabranko on

Dear all,

We have just published a research paper presenting, for the first time ever, a method for direct microscale mechanical testing of cement paste. We find this method very useful, and believe that it can provide a good basis for multi-scale modelling of cement and concrete materials. Full text is availavle at: http://www.mdpi.com/1996-1944/9/11/907 (open access)

Dear all,

We have recently published a paper related to modelling of the influence of addition of phase change materials (PCMs) on early age cracking in concrete. Registered subscribers can view it at: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0950061816314878
