VABS 3.6 Reduces Realistic Composite Blade Modeling to Seconds
Submitted by allanwood on Fri, 2012-01-13 23:45.AnalySwift, LLC, a leading provider of efficient high-fidelity modeling software for aerospace and energy composites and other advanced materials, announced today the release of VABS 3.6. This is the latest version of VABS, which is the tool of choice for efficient and accurate modeling of composite slender structures such as wind turbine blades, helicopter rotor blades, high aspect ratio wings, composite bridges, and other slender structural components.

St. Venant-Kirchhoff constitutive law in Abaqus
Submitted by Mike Graham on Wed, 2011-03-09 19:46.
I would like to conduct simulations in Abaqus using a St.
Venant-Kirchhoff constitutive law, but when I try to define a material
in Abaqus CAE I do not see it as an option.
Is this available as a
built-in model?
Is this just another material model with a parameter set to a specific value? (Hyperelasticity isn't my strongest area.)

PhD positions in Multiscale computation and modelling of granular materials
Submitted by jsun on Fri, 2011-02-04 22:57.
Multiscale computation and modelling of granular materials
Granular materials are ubiquitous in nature and extensively utilized in many processes in civil, chemical, mechanical and mining industries. Understanding and predicting granular material behaviour is vital for migrating natural hazards and for optimising industrial processes. However, complexity arising from grain interactions poses considerable challenge to this task. To date, there is no universal theory or model can describe granular material behaviour for a wide range of conditions.

ABAQUS and Constitutive equation
Submitted by attaran on Wed, 2010-01-13 15:46.Dear all,
I'm new to ABAQUS and I was wondering if we could have access to any constitutive equation in ABAQUS and add another stress tensor to the Cauchy stress tensor?
regards,

Constitutive Modelling of Elastomers
Submitted by Muhsin Nouri on Fri, 2007-03-23 19:58.Rubber or rubber-like materials, or generally elastomers, sustain large elastic deformations. The problems of such cases are non-linear, the non-linearity came from two sources, the first one due to materials, and the second is geomertrical non-linearity. Elastomers are, also, viscoelastic, i.e. time and temperature dependent.

5 PhD positions in solid mechanics
Submitted by tvpc22 on Wed, 2007-01-10 09:58.There are 5 vacant PhD positions with good stipend in the field of solid mechanics, constitutive modelling and numerical simulations. We are looking for very competent, creative students all over the world. It is a rare opportunity for a young scientist to develop his versatile skills and this is your chance. As some people know, SIMLab (Structural Impact Laboratory) is internationally reputed group working on problems related to Crashworthiness and Structural Impact. Our group recently got a Centre for Research based Innovation (CRI). All these positions are filling under CRI. Please find the details in the links here:
