Some example videos of my new YouTube channel course "Mechanics of Materials" (italian)
Submitted by Mike Ciavarella on Fri, 2010-05-14 21:57.Given the success of my facebook course Mechanics of Materials MMCM see here, we had so many videos and photos, that I suggested the students to create a Youtube channel. Here it is, with many videos based on powerpoint presentations I had from my course, and that of collegues in Torino (Masssimo Rossetto), or some conferences presentations, which the students transformed into videos. Thanks in particular to Mariella Greco, and Simone Legari. Follows examples of the videos. Enjoy! The channel is here .I like the idea of a free University!

MechTube - applied mechanics outreach for children
Submitted by Zak Stone on Fri, 2006-12-15 04:22.Hello everyone,
Professor Suo suggested that I share this speculative idea that I once posted on Applied Mechanics News here on iMechanica!
In the future, we would like to reach out to children as early as their elementary school years to get them excited about topics drawn from Applied Mechanics. One approach to this goal takes inspiration from the successful "Le main a la pate", or "hands-in-dough", program in France (http://www.lamap.fr/ ), but extends the idea of hands-on science to take advantage of the internet.
