Book "Simulations in Nanobiotechnology"

I am happy to announce the publication of a book "Simulations in Nanobiotechnology", which was contributed from researchers (including iMechanicians) who have expertise in the area of nanobiotechnology. The book is aimed at presenting the current state-of-arts in computational simulations of biological objects such as proteins as well as nanomaterials such as graphene, and also bio-nano-hybrid system such as nanopore-biomolecule interactions. This book provides the insight into the simulation-based characterization in nanobiotechnology.

Measurements of near-ultimate strength for multiwalled carbon nanotubes and irradiation-induced crosslinking improvements

For more than 15 years, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been the flagship material of nanotechnology. Researchers have conceived applications for nanotubes ranging from microelectronic devices to cancer therapy. Their atomic structure should, in theory, give them mechanical and electrical properties far superior to most common materials.

The 13th International Conference on Experimental Mechanics

Dear Colleagues:

The 13th International Conference on Experimental Mechanics (ICEM13, http://www.icem13.gr) will be held on July 1-6, 2007 in Alexandroupolis, Greece. It is our pleasure to announce that the Conference will include a special symposium organized by us entitled, “Plasticity, Fracture and Fatigue at the Micro and Nano Scales,” which will focus on recent developments in this area within the larger scope of assessing research needs in a variety of applications of interest.

I would like to invite you to participate in the referenced symposium and to present a paper. If you decide to participate, please submit an abstract on-line through the ICEM13 web site http://www.icem13.gr no later than *October 31, 2006*. The deadline for submission of /manuscripts/ will be announced at a later time. The presented papers will be included in the Proceedings of ICEM13 published by Springer.
