 Hai,

 i tried to apply hydrostatic pressureon a plate.But the input file showes,it is distributed load .how can i get correct figure i.e, uniformly varying load on the plate

Dear Sonu,

Which kinds of boundary conditions are you intending
to apply?

For example, all surfaces of a plate under hydrostatic
pressure, or one surface of a plate under hydrostatic pressure?

Which
software are you using?

In some commercial software, hydrostatic
pressure is interpreted as distributed loading.

 

If you are intending to make a all surfaces under pressure, you'd better to check a paper written by Prof. Fleck at Cambridge.

Thanks for your reply Enyang.The software is Abaqus 6.8.I applied the hydrostatic pressure on one side of the C3DR20 plate.The boundary condition is three edges fixed .The figure of load distribution shows as uniformly distributed load.Actually the Abaqus  documentation tells it will be uniformly varying load.I am not an expert in any softwares.So i am facing problem.

Hydrostatic pressure in Abaqus Dynamic Explicit Analysis

Hi,

I am also attempting a similar problem to the one stated above. I am modelling a 3D enclosed hollow cylinder made out of a kapton membrane. This cylinder will be subjected to hydrostatic pressure from one side to the other side. I am modelling this simulation in abaqus and i am attempting to do a  dynamic explicit analysis. I was informed that i would have to modify the input file in order to apply a hydrostatic pressure in abaqus explicit as there is no option in the interactive method. But i am unsure on how to modify this input file to apply this pressure.

Any suggestions on this topic will be much appreciated as i have appreared to reach a dead end.
