The number of registered users of iMechanica exceeded 10,000 the other day.  The total number of posts is 4379, and the total number of comments 9222.  iMechanica was launched in September 2006, with the following mission:

1. to use the Internet to enhance communication among mechanicians
2. to pave a way to evolve online all knowledge of mechanics

iMechanica is hosted on a server at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and is maintained by volunteers.  iMechanica is not funded by any external sources.  All content is generated by registered users.

iMechanica is powered by an open-source software, Drupal.
