An immediate opening for a Ph.D. student in Solid/Structural Mechanics is available at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. The successful candidate will work with Prof. John Beynon, Prof. Guoxing Lu and Dr. Tracy D. Ruan to investigate the structural components made of aluminium and/or with metallic foams, with enhanced crashworthiness performance under several typical static and impact loadings.  

The scholarship is AU$28,000 (tax free) per annual year for three years. The tuition fee will be covered by a Tuition Fee Scholarship, which will be automatically granted to the successful candidate. The specific requirements for the candidate are as follows:

 

1. A Mater Degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering (essential)

2. A good publication record (preferred)

3. Basic experimental skills e.g. MTS and SPHB, and FEA skills. e.g. ABAQUS or LS-DYNA (preferred).

4. Experience in Impact Engineering is a plus.

 

If your first language is not English, you must have

 

IELTS 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0

or

TOEFL CBT 237, essay rating 5.0

or

IBT 91 writing score 22.
