vibrational modes of piezoceramic plate
Wed, 2007-09-12 06:30 - Timo Scholehwar
i'm looking for a free fea program that can is capable of simulating the vibrational modes of a simple piezoceramic plate.
i'm looking into calculix and elmer, but there seems to be very little information about this.
and yes, i do have the complete peizoelectric tensor of the material.
the ultimate aim is to simulate the electrical (current) and mechanical (strain) response to an electrical filed x at frequency y...

a semi-analytical approach
The following paper presents a semi-analytical approach to determining resonance frequencies and modes in piezoceramic plates.

yes, i remember discussing
yes, i remember discussing this one at GRC2003. it doesn't really help with my problem, though. the aim is basically to simulate the impedance / phase plot. especially the spectra of coupled resonance modes.
anyway, i know it can be done, since a collegue of mine already did it in ansys. i'm just looking for a freeware/opensource program that can handle material tensors with electromechanical coupling, e.g. the piezoelectric tensor.
possible candidates: calculix, warp3d, elmer, z88
PS: calculix only accepts mechanical properties. so that one drops out...
