Funded by the ERC-CoG COMBAT
(Computational Modeling and Design of Lithium-ion batteries), there are

5 open positions for PhD-students or Post-Docs

at the chair of Computational
Mechanics (chair Prof. T. Rabczuk) at the Bauhaus University Weimar for a
maximum period of 5 years; the earliest start date is June 1, 2014.
Postdoctoral candidates will be preferred. The applicants are supposed to work
in an international team on several aspects of multi-scale and multi-physics
modeling of Lithium ion batteries including MD, continuum mechanics, FEM, Error
Estimation and Model Adaptivity, Uncertainty Analysis and Optimization.

Requirements

PhD or M.Sc. in Computational Physics, Applied
Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering

·
Excellent knowledge in Computational
Methods (in particular FEM, XFEM), Mechanics and Applied Mathematics

·
Experience on one or more of the following
topics: Development of MD potentials, DFT,
MD, computational modeling of
polymers, polymer-matrix composites or lithium ion batteries, multiscale
modeling (FE^2, BDM, Arlequin method, BSM, QCM, etc.), goal oriented error
estimation and adaptivity, uncertainty quantification, optimization.

·
Excellent coding skills (C/C++ or Fortran)
