The Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering (MechSE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for faculty positions at all levels in Solid Mechanics, broadly defined, with particular emphasis on research that is experimental in nature.  MechSE at Illinois has a strong tradition in solid mechanics, and offers a BS degree in Engineering Mechanics and MS/PhD programs in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, as well as BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering.

Illinois is home to world class research facilities that are well aligned with experimental solid mechanics research, including the Advanced Materials Testing and Evaluation Lab (AMTEL), the Frederick Seitz Materials Research Lab (MRL), the Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory (MNTL), the Beckman Institute, and the Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB).  Mechanics research at Illinois spans all of these labs and institutes, as well as numerous other academic departments; applications are especially encouraged from candidates who will develop solid mechanics research programs that are interdisciplinary in nature.  Further information on the department can be found at http://mechanical.illinois.edu.

Please visit http://jobs.illinois.edu to view the complete position announcement and application instructions for College of Engineering: Open Rank Faculty -- Mechanical Science and Engineering (F1300105).  Full consideration will be given to applications received by December 1, 2013.

Illinois is an AA-EOE.  www.inclusiveillinois.edu
