Transportation Geotechnics - New Journal Welcoming Submissions

Transportation Geotechnics, a new journal providing a valuable resource for pavement and railroad track engineers, engineers and professionals to publish their work and keep up to date with the latest advances in this field.

With most transportation facilities rapidly aging and exposed to effects of varying traffic loads and changing climates, the need for building a strong and stable transportation foundation has become more critical than ever for today’s sustainable engineering practices.  Transportation geotechnics provides key knowledge to building sustainable pavement and railroad track infrastructure.  Considering the recent major investments in high speed rail in China, the US, UK and many other countries, transportation geotechnics is becoming increasingly important.

Quality, serviceability, maintenance and life-time of roads, railways, airfields, waterways and ports, depend, to a large extent, on the geotechnical properties of these multi-layered structures and foundations (natural ground, embankment and subgrade). All these aspects should be considered a broad engineering unit bridging the gap between pavement and railway engineering and geotechnical engineering. With no currently available outlet specifically covering research on transportation geotechnics we hope that this journal will provide a forum to bridge this gap.

We are aiming to publish our first issue in January 2014, and are now welcoming submissions on all aspects of transportation geotechnics.
