Multiple Faculty Openings at Clemson University
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University (http://www.clemson.edu/ces/me/) invites applicants for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin Fall 2013. Persons with exceptional qualifications may be considered at a higher rank. We are seeking candidates in all areas of Mechanical Engineering with emphasis on multidisciplinary research targeting key advances in Advanced Manufacturing, Advanced Materials Design and Processing, Bio-inspired systems, Clean Energy Technologies and Sustainability, and Nanoscale Science and Engineering.
Candidates must possess an earned PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field with a potential to develop an internationally recognized, highly interdisciplinary research program and to actively contribute to the core graduate and undergraduate teaching missions of the department, especially in the areas of advanced manufacturing, solid mechanics, experimental mechanics, machine design, dynamics and controls.
Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University is in a period of rapid growth with many new faculty positions anticipated in the coming years fueled by the recently announced strategic hires initiative and by the enrollment growth in mechanical engineering. The Department currently has 25 tenure track faculty members actively involved in research, teaching, and service endeavors. One third of the current faculty members have received the NSF CAREER grant. The Department has an enrollment of around 650 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. Clemson University is a public, land-grant institution currently ranked by U.S. News and World Report as 25th among public institutions and 9th among Up-and-Coming universities. The university was named the “Best Place to Work in Academia” among academic institutions in The Scientist magazine. The campus is located along the thriving I-85 business corridor centered between Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC.
