Nanoscale Computation/Modeling Domain Expert Opening at Lurie Nanofabrication Facility

The Lurie Nanofabrication Facility (LNF) is the University of Michigan site of the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network (NNIN) and is hiring a new domain expert in computation and modeling.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and coordinate computational modeling and simulation capabilities for users of the LNF. Focus on capabilities related to MEMS/NEMS, including micro and nano fluidics devices and structures.
Support the needs of LNF community in terms of computational modeling and simulation of MEMS/NEMS devices and structures covering multiple domains involving mechanical, thermal, fluidic, and electronic signals.
Identify, develop and/or implement new modeling and simulation tools and support existing software used for design and modeling of such multi-domain and multi-scale systems.
Assist researchers with their projects and development of their research programs as needed.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Electrical Eng, Computer Science, Mechanical Eng, Chemical Eng, Physics, Chemistry, or other related field in science and engineering.
Thorough understanding of modeling/simulation of MEMS/NEMS and microfluidic devices and systems. At least three years of demonstrated involvement in research projects related to semiconductor/ MEMS/ Physics modeling and demonstrated problem solving skills.
Knowledge of existing modeling software, ability to develop new simulation tools.

Applications to this position are done through www.umich.edu/~jobs/, posting # 30754. Contact Dr Sandrine Martin sandrine@umich.edu for more details.
