I submitted my PhD Thesis in the area of
Functionally graded coating of ceramic and ceramic-composite coatings, which
involves designing, phase analysis, bond strength, mechanical and physical
properties.

To involve myself in improving sound technical
knowledge and good experimental exposure I am looking for an opening for post
doctorate fellow. If you can offer me the experimental part , I will be so happy to
work in the area. Regarding the finite element part i am not having hands of experence , but i have attened theory and laboratory courses.

Postdoc needed urgently at Oxford

Postdoctoral Research Associate
University of Oxford - Department of Engineering Science

Grade 7: Salary £28,839 - £35,469 p.a.

We are seeking a well-organised and motivated individual to work on
an EPSRC/Dstl funded research project, aimed at developing novel
methodologies for numerical simulation of deformation and failure of
composite materials at multiple length scales in impact engineering of
marine structures. Based at Engineering Science, Parks Road, Oxford
this post is available immediately for three years.

You will be responsible for the development of deterministic and
stochastic modelling techniques for predictive modelling of the
response of composite materials to impact loading, the development of
supporting experimental techniques, the writing of reports and journal
publications and the production of documented software.

It is essential that you have:

A doctorate (or be very near to completion) in engineering,
materials science, mathematics, physics or a related discipline; or,
alternatively, have a good first degree and significant relevant
industrial experience.

Proven skills in novel research.

Expertise in the finite element method and development of
constitutive models for simulation of deformation and failure of
engineering materials.

The ability to communicate scientific ideas to an expert audience,
both orally and in writing (including research papers for journals).

Further expertise in the development of constitutive models for
simulation of deformation and failure of composite materials,
experience in dealing with impact engineering problems and familiarity
with experimental characterisation, including microscopic
characterisation of materials, are desirable.

An application pack may be obtained by telephoning 01865 273013 or by email to administrator@eng.ox.ac.uk.Please quote reference DF09071 in all correspondence. The closing date for applications is noon on Wednesday 11 November 2009
