Cohesive Elements in ABAQUS

I am a fairly new user to ABAQUS, and am running into a great deal of difficulty when trying to create a model and embed or create cohesive elements into the model.

I started by creating a 2-D part, and then creating an orphan mesh of that part. From there I do not know how to create the elements, from which I can assign them to a cohesive element type. I am just wanting to simulate a bulk material held together by some adhesive. I want to assign the appropriate damage/softening properties to the adhesive and then run the job and hopefully get a stress strain curve to validate thoes properties... Very simple model, I am just struggling with the actual implementation of the cohesive elements.

Any suggestions on what I should do? Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Donny
