Session on "Multi-scale Modeling of Graphene- and Carbon Nanotube-Reinforced Composites"

I will organize a session on "Multi-scale Modeling of Graphene- and Carbon Nanotube-reinforced Composites" in International Conference on Mechanics of Nano, Micro and Macro Composite Structures (http://paginas.fe.up.pt/~icnmmcs/welcome.html) together with Prof. Silvest. You are invited to submit a paper.

The mechanical performance of H-shaped NCF adhesively bonded joints

Adhesive bonding is contemplated as an alternative method to mechanical fastening for joining composite aerostructures.
Ongoing research in this area is focused on the development of new bonding techniques and joining elements. In this
article, the mechanical performance of the novel noncrimp fabric (NCF) H-shaped adhesively bonded joints subjected to
tension, shear and four-point bending loading conditions was investigated by both experimental tests and numerical
modeling. The H profiles were manufactured by employing the preforming and injection molding methods, while bonding
of the assembled parts was carried out using a novel stepwise procedure which leads to a high bonding quality.

2nd International Conference of Engineering Against Fracture (ICEAF II), Mykonos, Greece, 22-24 June 2011

2nd International Conference of Engineering Against Fracture (ICEAF II), Mykonos, Greece, 22-24 June 2011

ICEAFThe Conference will be held in the island of Mykonos, Greece, between 22-24 June 2011 . ICEAF II is the sequel of the very successful ICEAF I which was held in Patras on May 2008 and gathered high-level scientists from all over the world. The conference will be organized by the Laboratory of Technology & Strength of Materials (LTSM) and the Greek Metallurgical Society. The scope of the conference is to attract interdisciplinary work in the areas of design and prevention of fracture. Works are expected to cover a number of different technological areas including aeronautics, construction, automotive, etc.
