how element quality will affect the accuracy of results
Submitted by sagar_009 on Wed, 2010-06-30 08:34.hi all,
I want to know how the element quality is decided.
For example: for warpage of elment if allowable limit is max 15deg, what will happen if it exceeds 30 deg.
On what basis this limit is calculated.
Like this for the other quality parameters also.
plz help

Geometric nonlinearity
Submitted by sagar_009 on Thu, 2010-06-24 05:03.hi all,
How to decide the geometric nonlinearity?.
i.e If i consider a sturcutre for example-fishing rod or wind turbine blade, how to decide that the structure is geometrically nonlinear.
Does it requires lots of calculations or by experimentation... For example by just observing the structure, is it possible to decide?
What are the reasons to consider the geometric nonliearities.

stress - Strain diagram
Submitted by sagar_009 on Tue, 2010-04-27 11:14.hi all,
Why the stress values are on Y-axis and strain values on X-axis?
If we interchange the stress on X axis and strain on Y axis , will there be any change or is it possible to change?

coupled-Field Analysis
Submitted by sagar_009 on Tue, 2010-03-23 03:34.hi all,
In coupled field analysis, the first step is to do thermal analysis, then these thermal results will be imported to structural analysis then the couled analysis is carried out.
My question is,
for example if the body is subjected to 300deg C. The thermal analysis is carried out with 300deg C.
The same thermal results will be used for structural to do coupled field analysis. If the material properties( youngs modulus, density and poisons ratio) at 300deg C are cosidered then is it necessary to consider the thermal expansio also.

G value for design
Submitted by sagar_009 on Tue, 2010-02-23 07:14.Hi all,
I want to know how the G(Gravity) value will taken as 4g or 3g for the design of the structures.
On what basis the value will be selected.
Any calculation or theory about it, plz tell me.

difference between elastic limit and proportional limit
Submitted by sagar_009 on Wed, 2010-02-10 09:13.hi all,
can anyone explain about the following basic questions
1. me the difference between the proportional limit and elastic limit.
Please dont give the definitions of both, i need some detailed explaination.
2. How many natural frequency a object can have?

Gear Box analysis
Submitted by sagar_009 on Fri, 2010-01-29 12:25.hi all,
I am doing the FEA on gear box of wind turbine, which is a very complex system.
I want to carry out static and dynamic analysis. I want to consider all the gears in this analysis.
If anyone is having experience in the gearbox analysis, please help me. how to simplify this complex system.
If anyone is having any reference documents please forward to me.
thanks

buckling analysis
Submitted by sagar_009 on Fri, 2009-11-06 03:59.hi all,
I am doing buckling analysis of pressure vessel. I want to check the buckling load for individual components.
This pressure vessel is subject to hydrostatic pressure.
So if i want to check this, how to do that. I am not perticular about the softwares.

cyclic loading
Submitted by sagar_009 on Wed, 2009-09-16 06:47.Hi,
I am trying to carryout the analysis of a pressure vessel.
Which is subjected to 100cycles during its life time.
The component is subjected to cyclic loading i.e presure of 0-10 MPa and temperature of -10 to 50 deg.
How to give this cyclic loading to carryout analysis.
Thanks and regards

fatigue analysis
Submitted by sagar_009 on Fri, 2009-04-17 11:40.hi,
Is it necessary to carryout the linear static analysis first before doing the fatigue analysis.
If the stress exceeds the UTS , still can we caryyout the fatigue analysis.

deformation due preload
Submitted by sagar_009 on Wed, 2008-08-27 09:51.hi,
I am performing bolted joint analysis, I want to know the what is the effect of the preload.
If preload is applied/removed whether there will be any effect on the deformation of the bolt and component.
what is the relation between the bolt preload and deformation.
