Multiple PhD Positions in the area of nuclear fuels and advanced characterization methods

We are looking for enthusiastic students with a MSc or BSc degree to conduct research in the area of materials characterization and advanced nuclear fuels. Students with a degree in any of the following disciplines are encouraged to apply:

  •         mechanical engineering
  •          materials science and engineering
  •          physics

 

Prospective candidates will be assessed based on how well they meet the following criteria:

§  Excellent degree in their relevant discipline.

§  Excellent written and spoken communication skills.

The following skills are desirable:

§  Research background in mechanics of materials.

§  Ability to conduct experiments: we are mainly focusing on in-situ imaging and diffraction experimentation, eg using SEM, (synchrotron) XRD, or neutron diffraction.    

§  Ability to develop subroutines in Fortran, Python and MATLAB.

§  Ability to work with commercial finite element packages.
